About Us

At Lake Burien Physical Therapy, we view mobility from a whole body perspective, and treat our patients with the goal of getting to the root of the movement dysfunction. Your therapist will develop an individualized treatment plan that fits your body, and helps you to live your best life.

About Your Therapist

Orit S. Hickman earned both her Master and clinical Doctor degrees in physical therapy from Temple University in 2000 and 2004 respectively. She has been certified as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist by the American Physical Therapy Association. Dr. Hickman has been an instructor in the University of Washington physical therapy program and a Kinesiology instructor at Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland. Dr. Hickman, her husband Matthew, and their son Emerson moved to the Seattle area in 2007.
"What I really love are puzzles. And each patient walking in the door is a new puzzle to unlock. I often tell my patients that we get manuals for EVERYTHING—cars, appliances, even how to raise children. But there isn't a manual that tells a patient how to live in their body—how to walk correctly, have good posture, and how to avoid repetitive stress injuries. Each person is different, so each diagnosis is different.
I am a firm believer in practicing what I preach—if I recommend a specific shoe, then I test it out. If I want to help patients lose weight—then I follow the program I want them to follow. I have experienced pain that stopped me from doing the things I wanted to do—and I have exercises that keep me strong, and prevent further injury. It's all about movement…and movement matters!"
